      REGISTRATION matches a flight number, an airport, or a tail (KL871, BCN, PH-EHD).

      AIRLINE matches the airline name on the board (KLM, Martinair).

      AIRCRAFT matches the type code (77W, B744, A333).

      The chips below then narrow those results. Example: type KL on AIRLINE, then tap HEAVY JETS. Only the large KLM jets remain.

      LAST repeats the previous search. EU, NON-EU, NEXT 2 HOURS, and CANCELLED or DELAYED can combine with the typed term.

      Tap a plane to isolate and follow. The card stays on the left. EXPAND / COLLAPSE folds the left card. DISMISS shows only when nothing is tracked and leftover details are still on screen. Empty map drops the plane. Add Presently Tracked in the Hextory header to save the aircraft you are following.

      Colour is altitude. Grey is on the ground. This in-app map only shows traffic up to about 10,000 feet above the airport, so high overflights stay hidden.

      FIND picks Registration, Airline, or Aircraft. Hex lives in Registration (PH-CKA, CKA, or 484BD0). Airline and aircraft filter live traffic only. A full registration or hex that is not transmitting shows last seen — add it to Hextory from the toast. HEAVY JETS, CARGO, and EMERGENCY filter this airport’s map (no 10,000 ft cap). The return button or FIND → CANCEL clears the filter.

      Selecting a plane also opens a small FlightRadar24 card at the bottom right with the live route and ETA when that registration is airborne.

      When DEPT only has an arrival ATIS, these two boxes sit under the copy. Close to dismiss.

      Worst wind

      If the wind is variable, this uses the least helpful heading in that range: the most tailwind, or the smallest headwind if it never becomes a tailwind (if a range of wind directions is given).

      Gust or MAX is used when it is stronger than the mean.

      T = tailwind, H = headwind, X = crosswind, in knots. The direction shown is that WORST heading, not necessarily the mean on the ATIS.

      When the displayed ATIS is stale, the strip uses the on-screen METAR if that report has wind and is not older than the ATIS. METAR and TAF degrees are true; GearUp shows an estimated magnetic heading from a dated variation table and uses that magnetic value for the stale strip. With no D-ATIS, or when that same gate picks METAR, the into-wind jet strip is inferred from that magnetic wind. DEPT and ARR then show the same Inferred Runway line. If infer cannot run, ATIS runways stay and only the wind may come from METAR.

      BASED ON METAR or BASED ON ATIS is the source for that line.

      TSAT EOBT slots

      EOBT is Estimated Off Blocks Time: The flight plan time for the flight to be ready for departure. ATC usually allow a tolerance of +/- 15 minutes.

      TOBT, Target Off Blocks Time, is a more accurate measure, usually within +/- 5 minutes, which tells the local CDM system and NMOC Brussels when the airline believes a flight will be ready.

      From this, a TTOT is calculated (Target Take Off Time), which may be adjusted to allow for departure separations, CTOT etc, and then working backwards will provide a TSAT (Target Start Approval Time) which will provide both ATC and the airline the most suitable start up time given all the factors that the local CDM system takes into account.

      • EOBT: Estimated Off-Block Time This is the estimated time at which an aircraft expects to start moving from its parking position at the airport (i.e., push back from the gate or start taxiing).
      • TOBT: Target Off-Block Time This is the time that an aircraft operator or ground handler has agreed upon with air traffic control or airport authorities for starting the off-block procedure. It's essentially the target time for when an aircraft should begin its departure process.
      • TSAT: Target Start Approval Time This is the time provided by air traffic control when an aircraft can expect to receive its start-up approval, which is crucial for sequencing departures at busy airports. It helps in managing the flow of traffic on the ground to avoid congestion.
      • CTOT: Calculated Take-Off Time Also known as “slot time,” this is the time calculated by air traffic control for an aircraft to take off. It's used in flow management to regulate the departure sequence, especially in scenarios where there's a need to balance demand with capacity at departure or arrival airports.
      • TTOT: Target Take-Off Time Similar to CTOT, this is the specific time at which an aircraft is scheduled to take off, considering all the previous steps like TOBT and TSAT have been coordinated. It's a target rather than an actual time of take-off, which might differ due to various operational factors.

      These abbreviations are part of the Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM).

      NOTIFY is on the phone only. It watches the open flight for CDM time changes and TOBT now. The Mac does not show NOTIFY or those alerts.

      Select an aircraft on the map. ADD to HEXTORY reads ICAO hex, registration, type, and airline from the details card and adds it here, newest on top (12 aircraft plus the airport cards). Older cards drop off the bottom. FIND picks Registration, Airline, or Aircraft. Hex is typed in Registration. A full registration or hex adds a tail and isolates it when it is known; a parked tail still gets a Hextory card. Airline, aircraft, and the chips filter live traffic at the current airport. The return button or FIND → CANCEL clears that filter. BACKUP LIST / RESTORE LIST brings a saved set back. Tap a card to find that aircraft on the map.

      The top-right cards are the most recently viewed airport and the one before it. Tap either to return there. They cannot be deleted or moved.

      The hourglass-eye on a card opens that registration’s Flightradar24 history in a new tab.

      FLYtification is on the phone only. Tap the bell to watch one aircraft. GearUp then notifies the next ADS-B events — first seen, takeoff, landing, and when it drops off or looks parked. Only one tail at a time (tapping another bell moves the watch). Tap the same bell again to turn it off. A watch ends after 24 hours. Add GearUp to the Home Screen and allow notifications so the short lock-screen line can appear (for example “PH-CKA is taking off · AMS → JRO”). The Mac does not show the bell or those alerts.

      The globe on the airport card opens that airport’s Flightradar24 page in a new tab.
